Prayer for vocation
Lord Jesus, Good Shepherd,
you offered your life
for the salvation of all;
grant unto us the fulness of your Truth
and render us the capacity of testifying it
and to communicate it to others.
Lord Jesus,
grant your Holy Spirit
to all the persons,
particulary to the young,
that you call to your service;
illumine them in their choices;
help them in their difficulties;
sustain them in their faithfulness.
Make them ready and couragious
in the offering of their life,
according to your example,
so that others may encounter You,
Way, Truth and Life

Those who intend to join the Franciscan Order are expected to be Catholics with good health and an average intelligence for academic pursuits. They must fulfil the basic requirement for entering any of the country’s universities. [Good BECE or J.H.S.] and very good SSCE or WASSCE results. Results in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science are very important as well as your 3 Electives. They must be within credit grades (between grades A(A1) and D(C6).
Once admitted they undergo a period of Postulancy during which they observe the Friars and the Friars too observe them. If at the end of this period one still desire to become a friar, and if one is approved by the Superior, they enter the Novitiate. It is a one year intensive initiation into the Franciscan life - spirituality, history and organization of thr Order. At the end of the Novitiate, they make their First Profession of Vows. After this period those who feel that they are called to be priests continue with the normal Catholic Training programme for priests. The Brothers also continue with furthur formation according to their capabilities.
